Glory refuses to transfer Rhys Williams
Perth Glory has told Rhys Williams there's no chance of him being released to join Sydney FC.

The fairytale homecoming of Socceroo Rhys Williams has turned into a nightmare, with the Perth Glory recruit told there's no chance of him being released to join Sydney FC during the January transfer window.

Sydney are desperate to secure his services, with the league leaders needing to find replacements for the transferred Matt Jurman and the injured Seb Ryall.

Williams joined his hometown club Perth at the start of the season and would be a perfect fit at the Sky Blues, but Glory are refusing to release a player to one of their Championship rivals.

Meanwhile, Perth Glory striker Adam Taggart insists the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of defender Rhys Williams isn't disrupting the team's quest for silverware.

Williams wants to join A-League rivals Sydney FC, but Glory are playing hard ball and refusing to let their star recruit go.
